Live now! Week 8 of The Invitational
Caption contest winners, plus Q&A with the Czar and the Empress at The Gene Pool
Dianne Feinstein recalls the challenges of her first day in the Senate.
That’s one winner of The Invitational’s first new-era caption contest. See the rest — there are seven pictures of all stripes — in this week’s Invite, now online at The Gene Pool. The week’s new contest is a favorite of the Czar: Gene Weingarten invites you to write a joke — something with a punchline — in the form of a rhyming poem. He calls it a poke. Deadline for Week 8 is a bit later than usual: Saturday, March 4, at 4 p.m.
And plunge into the Pool with the Q&A and comments — for one thing, you can wish a speedy recovery to Coviddy Gene, who until Tuesday thought himself impervious to the bug, given the 87 shots and boosters he’s had. And you can weigh in on the captions — did we choose the wrong winners? And in her old Pat the Perfect role from Gene’s early Washington Post chats, the Empress will take questions on grammar, word choice, etc., along with her alleged incompetence at contest-judging.
And still running — deadline extended to Saturday at 2 p.m. Eastern time: our contest to come up with a humorously audacious idea for an artwork. Win the classic educational children’s book on farts The Gas We Pass. See Week 7 here.
